A pregnant woman's letter to Santa

A pregnant woman's letter to Santa

Dear Santa,

For Christmas this year, I would love:

  • The ability to open the refrigerator without wanting to throw up

  • The power to silence anyone who starts an account of their birth story with the words ‘I don’t want to scare you, but…’

  • A full night’s sleep where I don’t awake in a panic having wound up on my right side

  • The ability to tie my own shoes without grunting and groaning

  • A fully functioning pelvic floor

Failing that, the following things would also be most welcome:

  • Candles - real and scented to enjoy at home, or battery-operated to take to my place of birth

  • Massage oil - even better if accompanied by a gentle massage from my partner!

  • Ginger candies - seasonal and helpful for nausea!

  • A cosy blanket

  • Cooling foot cream for swollen trotters

  • A satin eye mask

  • Reeeealllly bubbly bubble bath (and preferably the peace and quiet to enjoy it alone!)

  • Herbal teas

  • Essential oils - to diffuse, to dilute and spray, or to put on the inside of a face mask

  • Maternity yoga pants. Always.

  • Vouchers for postpartum doula services

  • Empowering birth education!* I’ve heard This Mother Can has some great options… ;)

*If this is on your wishlist, feel free to reach out to find a time to chat about our course offerings - I’d love to connect!
